 Old Fashioned Apple Crisp

 

Ingredients

  • 6 apples, peeled and chopped
  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon, - divided
  • 1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 C. brown sugar
  • 3/4 C. old fashioned oats
  • 3/4 C. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 C. cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • Pinch of kosher salt

Directions 

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F degrees.  
  2. Butter an 8x8 baking dish.  
  3. In a mixing bowl, add apples, granulated sugar, 3/4 tsp of the cinnamon and lemon juice. 
  4. Stir to combine, then transfer to prepared baking dish.
  5. In a separate mixing bowl, add topping ingredients (brown sugar, oats, flour, 1 tsp cinnamon, salt, and butter).  
  6. Use a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the oat mixture, until mixture resembled pea-sized crumbs.
  7. Spread topping over apples in baking dish. 
  8. Bake 45 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
  9. Serve warm.
